 From our President-Elect
Continuity combined with fresh insights and ideas is a successful formula for moving an organization forward without losing its purpose or culture. This formula accurately describes the Board of Directors of the York-East Rotary Club for the 2010-2011 Rotary year because we have some new Board members and officers combined with some returning. We will be adding Elizabeth Wolf as President Elect, Steve Fluder as the new International Lane Chair, George Dvoryak as the new Rotary Foundation chair, and John Schriver and Connie Spark as new At-large Board Members (although both have served in that position previously). Returning officers are myself as President, Tom Zellers as Treasurer, Angie Hartman as Secretary, Joe Hackett as Club Service Lane Chair, Wendy Keesee as Community Service Lane Chair, Steve Altland as Vocational Service Lane Chair and our current president, Lydell Nunn, will continue on the Board as Past President.
As announced at several recent meetings, the one position yet unfilled is Vice President. We need a member of our club to step up to some additional responsibilities by accepting this position. The Vice President’s role in Rotary is to conduct meetings of the club and the Board in the absence of the President, to serve on the Board as a director, and to carry out other duties as assigned by the Board. The ASSUMPTION is that the Vice President will move up to the position of President Elect, and then President (in this case, VP in 2010-2011, President Elect in 2011-2012 and President in 2012-2013). I truly feel it is an honor and privilege to serve as an officer of a Rotary Club. ALL Rotarians are leaders, and to serve as an officer is to be a leader of leaders. Every one of us is capable of fulfilling these roles. I KNOW there is some member of our club who would like to work with me a little bit, more with Elizabeth Wolf, and then become President of York-East Rotary Club for 2012-2013. Please email me at popwalters@comcast.net, phone me at 717-757-3815, or see me following any of our regular Tuesday morning meetings. I am looking forward to serving with you.
Sincerely,
Jim Walters
