A note from our Club President:

Well 2010 is here and we’ve managed to make it through January already. As you know some our biggest fund-raisers happen in the spring, so I hope we’re ready to hit the ground running.

Our first big fund raiser is Monte Carlo Night on March 12. I hope you all have that date saved. While most of the sub-committees are rounding, there is always something that needs to be done and inevitably, someone needed to do it. So if you are not on a sub-committee for this event as of yet, please know that there is a need.

One of our biggest needs for this event is silent-auction items. Folks are working feverishly to secure items, both big and small, to be auctioned off. If you have something that you’d like to donate, please see me and I’ll get it taken care of.

One of the things the Board has noticed, is that a lot of our fund raisers rely solely on our members to purchase or participate in this thing or the other. We do a lot of little fundraisers throughout the year, yet we don’t get 100% participation on any of our projects, and there is never a great deal of participation by the general public. We are not sure this is something that is acceptable or sustainable, as it leads to burn-out among our members and little growth as a club because we have little community recoginition.

Right now, the Board is actively looking to determine one, is there a need to change our fund-raising effort and two, is there a club commitment to

do so? What we are suggesting is one major fund-raiser annually, where everyone in the club participates and involves the community. We would like to know your suggestions as to what event we’d like to focus our energies on, and would we as a club be willing to sacrifice perhaps a weekend for an event that would match our current annual efforts. We will be sending a poll in the weeks after Monte Carlo Night for your suggestions, questions and concerns.
